Welcome to the Official Dino Manners Book Website.

Inspired by my son, Austin, and his love of dinosaurs, we've published a book filled with dinosaur facts, chuckle-worthy illustrations by artist, Alison Seda, and a poem of easy tips to teach some basic manners and friendship ideas.

The book is called, "Dino Manners."  It's for kids ages 4 - 10. It helps them learn to be a good friend, resolve conflicts, stand up for themselves, AND learn about dinosaurs!

International Children's Book Day is April 2

International Children's Book Day encourages reading, and promotes the love of books for children. The best and fastest way to develop our young children into intelligent human beings is by teaching them to read. Instilling a love of reading promotes a lifetime of learning and enjoyment.

Libraries celebrate today with story telling hours and other events for young children. You can celebrate today by giving a new book to each of your kids. If they are too young to read, spend time reading stories to them. Its a great and memorable bonding time for you and your child.

Origin of "International Children's Book Day":
The International Board on Books for Youth designated April 2nd as International Children's Book Day. It marks the birthday of Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen(1805).

A beautifully illustrated book to teach children how to be a good friend, stand up for themselves and have good manners with the help of some colorful dinosaurs with a lot of personality. We like it when our friends treat us nicely. We all have a better time when we use our good manners. Perhaps the dinosaurs would have lasted longer if they had followed some of these etiquette and friendship tips. Some of the reviews on Amazon: You will love reading this book to your kids! Latitude 33: Another Independent Bookstore Has Closed Its Doors

We are in mourning.  A friend book store has closed its doors due to the competition from online and discount book stores.  This independent book store was in downtown Laguna Beach, California.  I shopped at Latitude 33 for years before ever writing a book.

I appreciated the independant authors they carried and the knowledge they had about each author and their works as if it were a family member.  When I wrote Dino Manners, Latitude 33 was one of the first book stores to ask to carry my book. They were honorable and allowed me to have a signing event during my first book tour.  My family and I will always remember the coziness of that day after the Patriot's Day Parade.

I can apprecaite being able to sell books online and I even have an ebook version of Dino Manners on Lulu.com: http://www.lulu.com/product/ebook/dino-manners/16313839,but I am saddened that another small book store without the ability to buy in large quantities or strong arm publishers has fallen.

Farewell my friend, Latitude 33.  You will be missed by many of us.

Mo Willems Revisited - too old for Mo? Just have to think outside the book.

We have been Mo Willems fans for years.  We have the pigeon series, Piggy & Gerald series, Edwina, and of course, Knuffle Bunny. Our children are now 6 and 9 and have somewhat outgrown reading them the traditional way.

The series went camping with us.  They became the script for plays throughout the weekend.  There were costumes, props, stuffed animals and OHHH those funny voices!  Drama, comedy, tragedy - they had it all.

Sometimes favorite books can be loved over and over, just in a different way than originally planned.  Be careful what you clean out from your children's bookshelves. You never know when a full day adventure in acting and costume design will be inspired by an old friend from a shelf.

Draw a Dinosaur Day - January 30.

Just heard about this. Draw A Dinosaur Day is a holiday celebrated on January 30th. The goal is as simple as it's title: Draw A Dinosaur! You don't have to be a brilliant illustrator, just take a couple of minutes with a blank piece of paper, a post-it note or your computer and enjoy yourself.

There are a few pieces of advice that held me in good stead from the time I was a child through adulthood. I'm grateful I learned them then. Sometimes I need a refresher course. I also realize many adults never learned anything close to this.  Too bad they didn't learn it as children, it would help make the ride smoother.
